Develop a Solution
Construct and Test Prototype
Evaluate the Solution
We made many modifications throughout the construction of our cardboard arcade game. Our original idea was to build a ramp and then put a box top-down behind it. Rather than doing this, we created an angle with the long sides of the open boxes and called it our ramp. We didn't have enough material in the end to put a box face-down behind the ramp, so instead we attached two pieces of cardboard together and attached one side to the back of the ramp and one side to the bottom of the target area so that we had a consistent distance between the two parts when playing the game. We also made the target area out of a box shape rather than a cylinder to save time. Another minor change was that we had 5 target holes on our final game rather than 6 and they were set up differently, as well as numbered. While we were constructing the golf club, we realized that the club and the bottom part needed to make more than a 90 degree angle, so we taped the parts together at an 105 degree angle.
Present Solution
My partner and I worked well together, we were able to put our ideas together to come up with one better idea. We worked quickly and efficiently to be able to finish with some time left and we did not have to rush. If I were to do anything differently, I would have made the golf club handle a little longer, so that you don’t have to bend down as much. I would also have liked to make something that could hold up the target board at a consistent angle rather than having to use the wall. It would take more time but it would be better as well if the ball could be delivered back to the player.
